For all Thomasians out there, it’s the last week of classes! I can’t wait to go to the beach and take a break! But the last week of classes also mean HELL WEEK!

Okay. Maybe this is an exaggeration. Haha.

So guys, I wish you all the best of luck! Let’s do our best and may St. Jude, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Theresa of Avila and all the other saints, Mama Mary and Papa God help us pass this semester! :)

On a random note, I want those sweet beans that have white powder on it. Haha.

UST Singers

It only seems fair to blog about them since I blogged about the Philippine Madrigal Singers the other day. :) And besides, I have a lot of things to say about them. ;)

UST Singers 2011

The UST Singers is a choir very dear to me. I seriously love them. Since I study at UST, I see them often and what’s even better is that one of their members is our conductor! I adore how passionate they are with their music and how humble they are even though they’ve achieved so much.

Prof. Fidel G. Calalang, Jr., the conductor of the UST Singers, is someone I totally admire. He is just amazing. It’s like he’s this music genius that’s a gift of God to the world. Like seriously. He has impeccable artistry and I just have the highest respects for him. It would totally be an honor for me to sing for him whether for an audition or a performance.

Another thing that I like about the Singers, as we call them, is that they bring life to the songs by giving it different colors. They are very versatile performers. Sometimes, they incorporate body movements and play musical instruments to give the song more life and color to it. This is one of my favorite songs of theirs. It’s just so beautiful and calming.

I sure hope that I get the chance to be a part of them. I auditioned for them once and was turned down but I hope in time, I get that chance and that surge of bravery to audition for them again. I seriously wish that I could be a part of them.

Call me a loser if you want because it’s just now that I saw that Coldplay’s video for their awesome song Charlie Brown. I could just post the video here but since Vevo has some restrictions you could just click here if you want to check the video out. ;)

What I really love about Coldplay is that they always bring something different to the table. They’re like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry minus the outrageous hair, make-up and clothing. To all Little Monsters and Katy Perry fans out there, I have nothing against them. I love them too. Haha. Going back, I’ve always found them really unique and awesome and amazing. If they were to have a concert here in the Philippines, I would freaking buy a ticket. DAMN. THAT WOULD BE FREAKING AWESOME. I wonder how it feels like to go to a Coldplay concert. Haha. ~~(Puts that in bucket list.)~~

I LOVE YOU CHRIS MARTIN, GUY BERRYMAN, JONNY BUCKLAND AND WILL CHAMPION!!!! You guys make me want to become British. And hell, I’ll force my kids to listen to your music. Haha. ;)

So here’s the real deal. Haha. I’ve been listening to a couple of songs by this choir on Youtube for a while and this is my favorite among all of them.

Every single time I watch this, my stress just goes away. It just gives me a smile on my face. :) Another thing that I love about this video is seeing how much fun the singers are having while performing the medley. Being a member of a chorale group, I know how it feels to just enjoy singing and it makes a huge difference on how the song would sound. You feel really excited that you just can’t wait to sing the song again. :)

I really adore this choir. They are one of the best choirs here in our country and they serve as a standard for all choirs. As much as possible, choirs in the Philippines try to reach their level of performance and their excellence in executing a piece.

Once upon a time, I dreamed to become a member of this group. But certain events hindered me to join. And you know what, I am glad I didn’t join. Why? Because I just realized how unprepared I am for it. Turns out, I was insanely ambitious to think that I can make it to the group with flying colors. Haha.

So guys, I suggest that you check the other songs of The Philippine Madrigal Singers or Madz as often called. Here’s another favorite video of mine. ;)

Everybody’s so hooked to this trailer! Come to think of it, how can one not be? It’s too cute and adorable and awesome and, well, you know what I mean.

The moment the trailer was released on Youtube, the video has had 7,315,379 hits! How awesome is that? I, for one, listen to it every single time I go online. It just takes my stress away. The Best of Chico and Delamar's The Morning Rush Top 10 - a review

I found out about this book sometime in December of last year. I bought this book just last Saturday. As a matter of fact, I wasn’t supposed to buy it. After our class, I remembered wanting to read it and decided to get it. At first, I sort of regretted buying it. Why? Because I am not an avid Morning Rusher. I just listen to the show whenever I get the chance. But you know what, after I opened it, I wondered why I didn’t get it the moment I saw it and why I doubted if the book was worth buying.

When I started reading it, I realized that every single cent spent on the book is worth it. It is such a light and humorous read that it lessens the stress in my life. It makes me happy, like seriously. Haha. What I really love about the book is that you don’t have to read it cover to cover. Since it’s a collection of the best top ten lists, you can look for a topic of your interest, read the list, and laugh your ass off. Haha. What I do is I swiftly flip the pages and when I see an awesome/interesting/disturbing topic, I stop and read the list. Also, I read the list from 10 to 1 because that’s how it goes on the show and I like it that way. Haha.

The first time I opened it, I shared the book with my friend, Berna. We were just laughing our butts off because the lists were so funny. Last Sunday, I asked my friends Adrie, Lizz and Patrick to give the book a try. I bet from their reactions that they enjoyed the book as much as I did.

I absolutely recommend this book to everyone. Even if you’re not a listener of the radio show, you’ll absolutely love this book. It might even make you listen to their show just to check out how things go there.

I SERIOUSLY LOVE THIS SHOW! At first, I was just gonna watch it for the sake of being a good fan of David Archuleta. But as time passed, I slowly got attached to the characters and to the story itself. Whenever the clock strikes 9, I’d stop whatever I’m doing and watch the show. Sometimes, I still get to watch the last few minutes of Wil Time Big Time, even if I couldn’t stand some of their contestants.

This is the very first Filipino soap that I religiously watched. (Looks like I’m having a lot of firsts recently. Haha.) You know what, I have no regrets. The show is amazing and I can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen next. Yesterday’s episode was my favorite. The date, the bunny suit, David acting so natural and awesome, his smile. Oh, the list just goes on and on!

During its first week, the story was really dragging. I thought it was a typical Filipino soap opera. There were only a few things taking place. But I was wrong. Now that it’s on its second week, the story suddenly moved faster with more action and dialogue and appearances of dearest David. So far, the screaming and the crying and the physical violence was lessened. And I like that. I feel like I’m watching how David Archuleta really is in real life. I must say, David has acting chops. He’s very natural and believable. I love him even more. Haha!

I hope that the show will maintain this kind of pacing. I seriously love it and I can’t wait to see more. :) You guys should watch it. ♥

BTW, which team are you in? Team Holly or Team Anya? I, for one, belong to Team Holly. ;)

I wonder what’s gonna happen later. Weee! :D Can’t wait!

Para Kay B - a review

Para Kay B is the book that I bought last Saturday as shown here. It’s the first Filipino novel that I read out of leisure. I started reading it that same night and yes, I’m done reading it!

What I absolutely love about this book is the brilliant way the stories were told, even if what happens are relatively the same. It’s narrated in such a simple and raw manner that you’ll be so attached to the characters and relate to them very much. The fact that it’s also funny and witty makes the book even better.

In terms of the story, it’s very interesting.

Me quota ang pag-ibig. Sa bawat limang umiibig ay isa lang ang magiging maligaya. Kasama ka ba sa quota?

These lines caught my attention and it was very intriguing to find out why the author thought so. I’ve also heard friends say that the book is a very nice read and I’ve always been curious as to why. The book has 5 love stories in it. These stories, on their own, are funny, truthful and slightly deep. As you read towards the end of the book (Hint: Chapter 6 - Ang Totoong Kuwento sa Totoong Kuwento), you’ll find out that there is a twist in the story that will make you love the book even more.

I suggest that you grab a copy of this book especially if you’ve had your fair share of heart aches. :) It’ll definitely make you smile.

So here’s the choir that I joined last November. I was beyond happy when I got in, but I had doubts. I’m so glad I never let those doubts get in the way of what was an amazing experience! :)

Here we are after our performance at the Philam Theater at UN Avenue, Manila last January 29. I think this was after we shed tears of joy. That night was full of happiness and prayers. Haha. There were a lot of problems that came along our way but those problems helped us become better at our craft. I guess that’s why we were able to achieve what we have achieved. Until now, I am grateful to our conductor (The one in black. Haha.). If it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t be where we are now.
